I use muslin fabric, DMC embroidery floss threads, cotton homespun, flannel and soft felt. To give it that unique primitive-like look, I stain them using fresh brewed tea (dark) and coffee.
In styling terms, primitive can mean simple, grungy, rustic, worn, and anything to reflect a style of yester-year.

All my pillows handstitched by me and are stuffed with Hypo - allergenic, soft polyester fibers.
